McCain campaign savages New York TimesExerpt:PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AFP) — John McCain's White House campaign Monday lashed out at the media and declared the venerable New York Times was "150 percent" behind Democratic hopeful Barack Obama.
McCain senior strategist Steve Schmidt rebuked journalists he said had failed in their duty to submit Obama to intense scrutiny and accused news organizations of hounding McCain's running mate Sarah Palin."Whatever the New York Times once was, it is today not by any standard a journalistic organization," said Schmidt on a conference call with reporters.
"It is a pro-Obama advocacy organization that every day attacks the McCain campaign, attacks Senator McCain, attacks Governor Palin, and excuses Senator Obama."This is an organization that is completely, totally, 150 percent in the tank for the Democratic candidate, which is their prerogative to be, but let's not be dishonest and call it something other than what it is."

HERBERT (8/4/08): You guys have seen the ad a number of times, I am sure, and you have it here in-house. First thing you see are a couple of images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, right? And we see an image of Barack Obama right after that, comes quickly at the beginning of the ad. You remember that, right? Do you remember any other startling images right there at the beginning? All right. There is an image right there in that very beginning of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and there is an image of the Washington Monument. Look at the beginning of that ad again. And you tell me why those two phallic symbols are placed there—pow!—right at the very beginning of that ad. I really wish somebody would answer the question—I think it’s really important. Why are those two phallic symbols in this ad… Bob Herbert, NY Times columnist, discussing phallic symbols in John McCain's ads.First, John McCain's campaign did not add the visual effects in the ads. They were taken directly from the Chosen One's tour of the world.Second, Bob--The Leaning Tower of Pisa is located in Italy the last time I checked. In case I'm mistaken, Obama spared Italians of his presence. Darn Italians. :-)Third, no one would ever think about phallic symbols if you and Olberman weren't obsessed with it.Hat tip:
